Congrats on the nice paint job, looks good! Maaco is always a gamble. I remember I had a red fender (one of the hardest colors to paint match) and door paint matched at Maaco and it came out PERFECT, in fact THEY were even suprised. but some Maacos are absolutely aweful. Like everyone says, it depend who works there. Looks like you found a good one =)

Looks very nice, congrats on how it came out. Way better than the waves haha. Seen some ups and downs from Maaco on cars of multiple friends, and yours looks better than most of theirs. Grats again bro.

that sounds like a cheap ass paint job.
id defiantly look into what your going to get for that price before you go for it.
remember the good ol saying of "you get what you what you pay for"

Job looks good for what you paid.

The main reason good paint jobs cost bank is the time involved in doing them right. I used to do custom airbrushing and it would take me a minimum of 20 hours to do a helmet, start to finish. Even if I had only charged $10/hour, that's $200 right there. And that's a tiny little helmet.

The less overspray you accept, the more time you need to spend masking. Want a mirror smooth finish? Prepare to shoot multiple coats of clear, let them set up, wet sand/claybar them, shoot another coat, repeat. Repeat again.

I desperately need to shoot my whole car, just don't have the time (or the booth) to do it right. I'm too much of a paint snob to go to Maaco, and I'm too cheap to pay to have it done right, so I'm pretty much effed. ;)

As long as you do your own prep....you should be set Macco is known for their crappy ass prep and it makes your panels and your paint look wavy......If you have the eye you will notice..some people really dont care

I have seen a lot of shop that charge an arm and a leg and their work comes out looking the same if not worst than Maaco. If you have a person that really takes pride on what he's doing he will do everything possible to make it look super, excellent , not just good.

and painting is the easy part of the process, preparing the car is the most important part IMO.
so the better prepare the car is the better the result.

Anybody know what paint they use? how many layers of paint they put?
also I live in Lebanon, PA so I pretty much near Harrisburg, Lancaster, Reading to name a few. Anybody know of a good Maaco around my way?

Speaking about preparing, I will like to do all the prep work. Can you guys tell me what are all the steps involve on this? I figure the more I do the Less Macco have to spend doing that but they can spend more doing the paint job itself, I hope.

Has anybody try going with a club or a grup of friends, maybe they can get a grup discount or something.
