Yes, a proportion of black people voted for Obama because he's black. But I think it's speculation and racist assumption to believe that most (though it may or may not be true) or all black people voted for Obama because he's black.

Traditionally, the black vote goes towards the democratic side. Obama was the democratic candidate. Thus, there's no reason why we should have seen any large proportion voting for Mccain.

i think you are missing the point.. the point is a LOT of people speculate that more black people voted than normal BECAUSE a black person was running.. you bring up a good point.. the black vote normally goes democratic.. i wonder why that is? any insight on that?

I couldn't say completely, but I would guess income levels probably have something to do with it. Lower to middle income levels tend to vote much heavier towards the left while higher income levels vote more towards the right. Let's face it... Bill Gates isn't black. Neither is the vast majority of high income earners.

I'm sure there are multiple other reasons on top of that, but I wouldn't doubt that is one of the big ones.

When I was about to go vote, this one black guy started filling out the ballot on the table. The volunteer told him to go into the booth for privacy. His answer was "For what? You guys already know who im voting for!".

How ignorant can someone be?

Suprisingly most republican i have talked to say they vote the way they do because of religious morals, because of abortion and the bible and all that jazz. I live the reddest state in the usa though.
