most likely, but you'll prob need to retune it every time you start the car. I'm sure the ecu will over rule it. I know some 04-05's did this.

The i-VTEC in the R18 is used to get the great gas mileage it's known for. Think of the R18's VTEC as the opposite of the Si's VTEC.
R18 VTEC = fuel economy
Si VTEC = performance

It's not misinformation; it's how the new R18's i-VTEC works.

During high load situations, the VTEC system provides high output valve timing for maximum power. Gone is the normal valve timing, replaced by two fundamentally greater extremes. A dual-stage air intake, a lightweight powertrain and optimized gearing further add to the performance character of the vehicle.a
Nothing about the phrase " maximum power " means economy or backwards ass vtec

Nor does it say that the "maximum power" is achieved using VTEC.

Notice that when VTEC is on, the fuel economy cam is activated.

Between 1000rpm and about 3500rpm, the R18 is in fuel economy mode, which means the i-VTEC is activated. When the fuel economy mode isn't engaged (about 3500+rpm), it's all motor, no VTEC.

You got it the other way around, it wasn't really an Insult, just that the R18 was based on the d17a2's.
