The "Don't Like It, Don't Click It" rule could cover a LOT more than just the threads mentioned.
It's still a "rule" that's broken all the time anyway.
The vids in mention WERE NOT meant to cause this "asshurt" army of people against them...ample warning WAS posted, but people still decided that they still wanted to watch them...
I don't believe everyone who didn't think it should have been posted watched the video(s). I didn't really want to see them, so I didn't watch them. While I didn't make a stink over it, I don't understand why it was posted to begin with.
I posted the video description in the one thread in case anyone wanted to know what was shown, but didn't want to actually see it.
Perhaps if other videos are allowed to be posted, a full description is posted in the first post too, along with a big warning stating that a beating and/or murder (or whatever) is going to be shown. Perhaps say if it's a beating with a hammer versus a guy being run over, etc.
There was a time when things like those videos were interesting to me. Pure curiosity. But it's grown old and I see it as more than just "some guy" now. Photographs were always what I preferred anyway. You could study the details better (I've always been interested in forensics). The posting of video always feels like it has more to do with shock value than anything else.
If it is all about peoples families and kids on the site seeing this, then why have pornography, disturbing images (not related to those aforementioned), a thread on illegal drugs...
Post a video of someone actually being forced to have their naked body videotaped or forced to shoot up, and see how that's taken compared to normal porn and drug use.
It's about people being harmed against their will. I'm sure some videos that could be posted (such as the BME OIympics) involve people who are willing participants, but perhaps the imagery is just too brutal for most to want to watch anyway.
It would be smart to possibly make the VIP thread an Over18 thread since people are then technicly by law able to make decisions and view the materials in there for themselves...
I've thought about the 18+ thing with VIP back when I was a mod. If underage people are viewing the thread and the people posting or hosting that are aware of that, then that could be seen as providing pornography for minors.
The problem is, without credit card numbers no one will be proving their 18 or older anyway. It's easy to change your age or just lie to begin with.
There are sites out there where almost all of the content is like what's being mentioned in this thread.
