Alright here's the story!

On Thanksgiving hit the highway around 65mph, needle jumps "WTF?!?" did it like 2 times in 1 hr.

Came back home and speedo hits and stays at 0mph "OMG?!?"

Called around and checked :

Battery : Good

Alternator : Good

Started : Good

Speed Sensor : Replaced

Alternator/ VSS fuse 7.5a : Replaced

so i checked and replaced my VSS and still has a problem where it works fine then drops to 0mph stays there for couple mins then comes back alive!?!

Battery gauge/ Gas gauge works fine 100%

Speedometer/ Trip meter and Odometer freezes when its at 0mph.

could it be a bad cluster? dont want to keep spending money on things that are working fine...

Please help me!!!

i have a 95 civic and had the same prob. my wire harness connector that plugs in to the vss had become corroded and wasnt making contact, you might want to try looking at that

finally fixed the problem, it was the cluster... just switched out the dx cluster and put a ex on it with a rpm gauge... nice nice nice....

for anyone that has this type of problems.... do the following....

check the harness first

secondly the speed sensor its $20 buck at a junkyard and get one thats around 99-00 newer the better!

if that dont fix the problem... get a used ex cluster, got mine at a private salvage yard for $30

good luck and god bless!
