So my car has a few bad rust spots that have eaten through the paint and it's flaked off a few layers of metal. Can I just sand it down and fill with something? Then repaint it? Or should I just get a new panel?
If it has made holes you need to cut the metal back to where the rusted out spots end. If it is rusted on top of the metal you need to sand down to where the rust layer ends. Failure to get rid of the rust will result in it coming back. It is a cancer that needs to be eliminated completely or it will continue to spread.
For some reason I'm having issues posting up pics....put there are quite a few above the windshield on the roof and one where the panel with the gas tank cover meets the rear bumper cover
