Japanese 6th gen?

So... i'm looking for a used car on autotrader and am pretty much settled on this one but there's one thing holding me back. The vin that the dealer has posted indicated that the vehicle is manufactured in Japan... I thought that 5th gens were the last civics to be shipped over from japan.... am i just recalling incorrectly?

he is saying that the VIN indicates the the car was manufactured in Japan (which from what i read earlier thats what the J at the beginning means) but thought that the 5th gen was the last gen to come from Japan. he didnt know if the car actually came from Japan or not. atleast thats what i think u mean (and it makes sense).

i believe some 6th gens came from J land, and some were made here.

yeah... i was just wondering if some guy just slapped a jdm vin plate on the car and the dealer didn't know...

however carfax did match... 97 civic sedan 1.6 engine, with 4 records... which would mean that it is real, right? since carfax wouldn't have data from japan... lol

2=Canada
3=Mexico
J=Japan
K=Korea

I looked it up on the helms manual.
Yours was manufactured in Suzuka Plant japan. So yes, that is straight from the Land of the rising sun!

EDIT: Looking throught the helms manual. 97-00 Sedans where the only ones that came out of Japan. Everything else was Ameica or Canada

Yes some 6th gens came from japland, and they are more common then you think, we see a good bit of them come through our dealership, even some 7th gens, though very rarely will we see them.
