The ship is the USS Essex, LHD-2; the LHD stands for Light Helicopter Dock, although as you can see, it'll support AV-8B Harriers as well.
The band was for the Steel Beach party that we had since we've been out to sea over 35 days nonstop. They had burgers and hot dogs and s**t, no beer though.
At least we got to go up on the flight deck in something other than uniform (which is hot as f**k by the way)
And living on this ship pretty much sucks, as my fellow Marine said. You get what's called a "coffin rack" to sleep in, it opens up and there's a storage compartment right underneath for all your belongings. But it is indeed better to be a Marine, especially one in the Air Wing like I am, because the Navy can't try and stop you from moving about the ship, unless it's during their little battle drills of course.
I got more, if ya'll want to see them and Rand0m is willing to keep being my host.
