Ohio is required from my personal experience.

Usually get a safety check for first offense, have 10 days to fix it and have it checked at a local post and second is usually a ticket, unsure on price.

Sorry, I forgot to add, I'm a MINOR, it could be different for someone over 18.

But for me it was "Warning" aka 10 days to fix it and take it to the post to be inspected.
