Will 17'x7 rims with 205/40/17 tires fit on a 6th Gen (2000 LX to be exact, no ABS if that matters) Civic? I got the rims for free, and they had 3 different sized tires on them. The smallest tire is 205/20/17, and it looks like itll fit w/out rubbing anything. I dont wanna go buy 4 new tires if theyre not gonna fit so...I kinda need to know. Also, are these scratches fixable w/out too much trouble? Theyre ALT Seven rims, and Im missing a center cap on one of them, and theyre all curb'ed up. But like I said, I got them for FREE, so....

depending on how low your car is you'll probably be ok. i've run 205/40/17's on 2 different set of rims, no problems

So Ill be fine with the 7mm offset? Also, what about getting those scratches out? Just strip the paint off, then sand them out?

7mm isn't the offset for front wheel drive wheels, should be about +40

yeah just clean them up and paint them like anything else

My bad...Im a rim/wheel n00b. Ill check the backside of the rims later when its daylight out.

EDIT: GImme like 20 minutes...Ill have it by then...Im not doubting your word or ne thing, I just wanna make sure I get all the info before I go and spend time on fixing them up, and buying 4 new tires for them.

Really depends on how low you are. I have 205/40/17's on my car and at full lock it rubs but I'm pretty low on my Teins.

yea when i had 17s i ran 205/40/17 and i rubbed a decent amount but my car was sitting really low...i think you will be alright....and to fix the wheels...you can just sand then down and fill in the scratches with bondo...i did that for my buddies vw wheels turned out great and have lasted for like 2 years now

old thread but figured i'd chime in lol...

i have a 2.5"F/2.25"R drop with koni struts and 205/40/17 wheels and i'm real low and i rub pretty badly when i have to turn even slightly left or right....

my biggest regret on the rim/tire combo is how much i rub
