You're not gaining anything but probably a more obnoxious sound.
Don't expect to gain any significant power from adding any type of exhaust.

I agree with all his points. You'll have less exhaust restriction by going up to 3 inches, but one purpose of exhaust flow restriction is sound reduction. Thus a stock D16Y8 will likely sound raspier AKA "ricey". If you plan to keep the engine mostly stock then just get a quality muffler and maybe a header.

I wouldn't necessarily say you'll lose power, but if that's the only thing you're ever going to do to the performance, I'd recommend a 70mm...or the 60mm to stay low on the annoying ricey noise.

I think a lot of good points have been made. I'm curious as to WHY you're thinking of putting on a 3" exhaust. Are you changing the exhaust only for the look?
