yes, the ex is a SOHC VTEC, but nots as powerful as the DOHC VTEC, but can be built to have incrediable horsepower.
theres a SOHC VTEC near my town that runs 12.3's i dont know if it is the D16y8 or D16z6 but both are good builders to start with.
