Back Fires?!

Alright. I have a 1986 Honda Civic DX Hatch. I replaced the head (old one had bent valves), and it backfired whe ever it tried to run. After a while, the backfires seemed to disappear. Now, almost 2 Months later, they're are back again. Is this my emission components "sticking?"

any check engine lights? have you tried problem solving at all? such as new plugs, plug wires, or o2 sensor.
