to start.. its rusted and oxidized to s**t.
SiR's came stock with d16y8's and rear drums. basically an american ex. That motor is a b series so it was swapped which isnt necessarily a bad thing but it doesnt look good imo.

So that means the engine could break down because its been ran hard

how does the rust and oxidation stuff build up so bad

how can this be fixed and what does it mean and what can i do to prevent that

the engine has 141k on it

i know the canadian si motors were a d16y8. idk about the si-r motors. and that motor in there has more hp and torque than a y8 motor, so its better in that sense, but its hard to tell what kind of shape that motors in, the true amount of miles on it, and if they beat the motor up when they drove it. Best way to tell is to drive it.

as far as i know the canadian si-r is the american si
so thats a stock b16 that you see in there
the canadian SI is the one with a y8 because its the same as the US ex

Was the car parked for a long time, or why are most of the parts oxidized...

depends on the price man, really no saying why the motor looks the way it does.

That is what happens when near salt water for a good amount of time or in an area that uses a TON of salt on the roads in the winter. One of the many reasons I am glad I am in the Pacific Northwest.

Seeing the motor that bad, I would look over the car VERY well for rust, corrosion, and "cancer". Check underneath for corroded parts as well. It is a good possibility that the exhaust is rusted to hell and the suspension parts have terrible oxidation on them.

i would say start it up listen for any ticks or knocks then drive it make sure there no boggin down. or any power loss even if you have to push it on the test run just do it

what it looks like to me is that a battery blew up in there.. by looking at the valve cover grommets it looks like they were splashed with some sort of acid... just me though i dunno.. id get a nice stock little honda to start on if i were you.

the canadian SI has a d16y8, as does the american EX
the canadian SI-R has a b16, like the american SI
im guessing everything else is also according to the class i.e. suspension, interior, SI-R is the USDM SI

Oh and it couldve been the headgasket, ive been told that when you blow a headgasket that white powdery s**t gets all voer your motor.
