Ok, heres a fascinating problem that keep coming up every 3 weeks or so.

Ill be driving along and doesnt matter how much fuel i have in the tank, I lose fuel pressure. Let the car sit for 20-30 mins and it starts back up like nothing happened.

Now, I can hear the fuel pump prime when I turn on the ignition which rules out bad fuel pump, fuel pump relay.

Any Ideas guys? RonJ this should perplex you too!

edit: i probably should replace the fuel filter since i havent done so..

What comes first, the engine stall or the loss in fuel pressure? Give us a better sense about the sequence of events.

well im sure its the loss of pressure that causes the stall.. then Ill try and crank it , ill hear the FP prime but ill look under the hood and im showing 3Lbs of pressure..

Could it be the pressure relief valve on the side of the tank?

Why don't you think the fuel pump is toast? Hearing the fuel pump run and it actually pressuring the gas line are not necessarily linked.

Replace the fuel filter just to rule it out, though I don't think it's the problem. If the problem persists, I'd swap in a known good fuel pump as I think the new one is faulty.
