Idle Control Malfunction

Ive searched around but havent found the answer im needing. I threw a CEL so i got a scan and got a P0505 (Idle Control System Malfunction). So the guy said to replace it but is there any way to just clean it or test it somehow. Im not sure on how these things work, but i figured they can be cleaned. So all help is appreciated. O yeah and its on a D16Y7. The IACV is a rotorary valve type i think.

does it pull on you when u try to cruise it?.. like wants to turn off and drop rmps then goes back on a lot?...

or what does it do??

Well it happened yesterday around five then i drove it once more at about 8 to go and get the code scanned, but it didnt do it again. But when it was happeneing it was sputtering with a real akward idle, but i havent had the problem since. So i dont know what was wrong but hopefully it has fixed itself now.
