Oil Change (Mobil 1)

About to change my oil and was wondering if anyone has used that mobil 1 thats supposed to be SOOO great...what does everyone else recommend using?

I used to use Castrol Synthec then I smartened up and start using Mobil 1. I been using Mobil 1 Synthetic for over a year now . I love it.

Thumbs up for Mobil 1. But I just use cheap dino oil, Castrol GTX.

mobil1 is actually recommended by honda, adn we use that with ever synthetic oil change we have for our customer's

Can someone tell me the difference? Cause some guy told me once that oil is just oil and the only difference is the name brand...is that true?

i have heard that the cheap ones like penzoil and valvoline start to have pastic deposit build-ups inside your interals over time and so that's what i always use super synthetic like MOBILE 1..5w-30!!!!!!!!

no that is not true. all oils are not the same. smell pennzoil 10-30 and smell mobil 1 10-30. there is a difference. pennzoil has peanut smell correct? honestly i am not going to say use synthetic if ur engine has a lot of miles. if u have a fresh engine with less then 20k on it then go for it. use just regular motor oil. dont use any additives either.

mobil 1 is good stuff. everything else out there is just oil. mobil 1 is awesome

Not true at all. Most oils may be similar in a few ways but the additives that are put into thier oils differ.

Synthetic oils are lab engineered and pretty much every company does it a bit different. Thats why they are so expensive opposed to convential oils.

I wouldnt recommend running a thicker oil until you start consuming oil at a unnatural rate. For our cars you can usually run Synthetic up to and around 120,000 miles. Then if you notice that you are consuming oil then bump up to the next level of viscosity.

IE: Your car recommends 5W-30 (2000 Honda Civic Si0

Then go up to 10W-30.

You can continue to use a full synthetic also if there is a heavier weight available or even a Sytntec Blend of same weight.

Additives are a great thing too. Synthetics have what is called Friction Modifiers which reduce friction between moving parts even more. Which is very good. They also come with Anti-Foaming and others.

is 80K miles too much to run synthetic or does it matter??

I've been using moble 1 for over two years, my entire family uses it now, otherwise I wont chance their oil . My GF's dad has used it since it came out and swears by it, its good stuff dude! I wount run anything else in my JDM motor!!!!
