Question about Type R Tranny

I currently have a 99 si, with a b16a and i was wonderin how much of a diff would a type r tranny have effect on a b16a? And what would it do for the engine for the most part?

Longer gear ratios, better final drive. LSD.

im pretty sure the only difference is the final drive and lsd, same gear ratio otherwise.

Your Si has the same gear ratios as the CTR and the pre-98 ITR. You would only be swapping to get a LSD, helps with acceleration and cornering, blah blah details. But you can also buy an aftermarket LSD unit as well.

98+ ITR tranny have a shorter gear ratio (almost same ratios/different final drive). Will cause your car to be slightly quicker.

i dont know how much ITR trannies go for, but id guess your better off just looking for an LSD.

i have a 2000 ITR Tranny...i personly hate the short gear set up...i do alot of interstate driving.

but for the track ill make a exception

and anyway, an itr lsd is readily available on ebay.. so just keep your trans and save a few bucks.
