Seatbelt not Locking

I have a 1990 Honda Civic Hatchback DX, the seatbelts on both the driver and passenger side don't lock when there's a sudden tug, a danger while driving and there's a sudden stop. Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this problem?

If the resistance lock is not engaging when then you need to replace the seat belt assemblies. You can most likely still find them on eBay pretty easily. RockAuto may have replacements as well.

the first time you fling the door open, after forgetting to undo your seatbelt...
you'll be glad they don't lock
