I noticed my car was getting worse gas milage and was acting a little sluggish.

The G-Power spark plugs were on special so I swap those in.
It runs more smothly now.

BUT I am looking at my old spark plugs. I did 6000km (around 3700miles) on them and do these look right?

I am running a 1999 Civic Si (Canadian) 127Hp engine (american Ex) it has 143,000km (around 88000miles)
Is there something wrong? running lean i guess?

Update: White is lean and Blackish is Rich

yeah, they look fine, but change them, since you already have them out.

I changed to the G-power and the only reason I am worrying I went up to a resort (on a mountain) not sure how high above sea level. but my car was having a hard time driving slow i stalled twice in the parking lot i was about to cry.

I should do a compression test?

Everything is stock.

They look fine to me, about how mine always look when i change them.

Compression test is never a bad idea.....but the reason it prolly felt slow it becuase 1. its a stock civic (its ok i have one too) 2. you were on a mountain (going up hills never brings out the best in our cars) and 3. higher elevation (on the mountain) might have made for a small loss in power

That is very interesting. Your spark plugs look like mine I took out recently, 12,000K interval. Mine was black with some rust around the white portion of the spark plug.

Basically Im running rich. My spark plugs are black, the muffler has black soot, it smells like gas (burning wasted gas I suppose) and it just doesnt seem right.

A couple of people I know who have had similar problems said changing the fuel filter fixed it for them.

So I am going to change 2 things soon...

- Fuel filter (God knows when it was changed previously, maybe never)
- Oxygen sensor

These 2 things should do it, I will let you know if it works for me...

LOL. Im worst, the previous owner I think never changed it for over $140,000KM plus I swapped a while ago and havent done anything for an additional 30,000KM now.

The fuel filter should be changed every 100,000KM and costs cheap. Cheap like under $40. My uncle here in Canada can get one he says for like 20 bucks so Im gonna do it soon, cheap insurance.

I'd rather not go for a cheap one. get honda oem even if it costs me a little more just like oil filters when I do an oil change.

and then crack the engine and see the PSI on each?
