transmission conundrum

I have a 98 civic lx with 225k on it. I was turning onto my road Friday when my automatic transmission didn't downshift into first and my check engine light came on. The code it threw was a p1705. I pulled out the Haynes checked all connections solenoid and everything code said it could be. They all checked out fine. My d4 light is flashing and I have no first gear. Does anyone have any ideas on what is wrong? I'm out of ideas.

Could be a bad linear solenoid

All solenoids have been checked and are good. Also checked the gear selector switch and it's good. According to the flow chart I can now check the wiring harness for damage.
