94 civic ex coupe. D16z6. Nothing done its stock. But it will not rev past 6k. it acts like a rev limiter almost like im at 7-8k revs. My friends car im just trying to fix it. I checked the vtec solenoid already. but the engine might have a CEL, We cant tell because the light isnt working. Doesnt blink when you turn on the car. So idk wut to do right now lol. Help appreciated, thanks.

either your car has an automatic rev limiter, and or their something... not vtec. vtec kicks in at about 6500 rpm. at least on the 99 ex. but im pretty sure its just the safety thing. no worries.

Not even close. VTEC kicks in on a stock Y8 a@ 5500 rpm. OP your tach might not be reading right.

Well the first thing you need to do is replace the CEL light. He could have a mess of codes and not even know it.
