y8 dizzy

    Can I use my d15b7 dizzy onto a d16y8 vtec?

    nyob zoo, yes i believe that will work with the y8..i think all holes line up as well..its the z6 distributor that wont fit on the y8

    Ok, but can i still have vtec with the d15b7 dizzy? and also do i need the vtec solenoid? when i bought the y8, it didnt come with it.

    yep the vtec in a motor doesnt have anything to do with the ignition/spark system
    and yes you'll have to look for the y8 solenoid..the y8 vtec solenoid's are not interchangeable with any other ones i believe

    ok thknx a lot. can i just find a vtec solenoid at a junk yard?

    yeah you might get lucky and find one there..remember has to be out of a 96-00 civic ex y8 motor..might as well take the solenoid, pressure sensor and the sensor wires =)

    Ok. Can I just build my d16 motor and not put vtec on til later? will my motor still run?

    you mean just hook up the solenoid but not plug it up? you can but you'll have a CEL..as long as you dont hit where the vtec would kick in i guess it should be ok..but i recommend doing it right the first time..dont want anything bad to happen
