my sony is the same way. ive got one on the side and three in the back. they do this so if you decide to mount the tv on the wall, the plugs are easy to get to.

I was just about to chime in and recommend the Samsung LN32B550. I've sold and installed a ton of them, rock solid tv's with a great feature set.
Why do you need 3 HDMI inputs? I typically run one hdmi, one component, one rg6, and 3 cat5's to TV's when I wire in wall. Typically we use receivers to switch audio and video.
