rpm wont go above 2000 rpm

Good day guys can i know if someone here experienced having stock at 2k rpm at all gears , can i ask what seems to be the problem of my car i drove an civic 1997 sedan ph16a sohc vtec engine manual trans

That appears to be a D16Y8 engine but I do not see the VTEC solenoid. At any rate, do you have any CEL illuminated? Would start with that.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT = CEL

The plug you removed is the VTEC pressure switch connector. You will want to put that back in place. VTEC switch will not affect idle. Idle is affected by either a faulty Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) which is bolted tot he backside of the intake manifold. Or there is a vacuum leak in the system somewhere allowing unmetered air into the combustion chamber.
