Who here lives in Ontario Canada and under the age of 21?

Have you heard the ridiculous laws they have now? Read below....

Announced on November 16th, 2008, new laws will be introduced into the legislature regarding driving laws and teenagers under the age of 21.

Anyone with any driving experience is familiar with the current graduated licensing system, and the restrictions they entail.
G1 drivers need fully licensed driver with them, a zero blood alchol level, etc.
G2 drivers must have a blood alcohol level of zero, and in the first 6 months of their G2, they can only have one passenger after midnight. Speeding tickets apply as they would to any licensed driver (demerit points, fines, and whatnot).
50 km/h over posted speed limit results in immediate license suspension on the spot, car may be crushed.
Annoying, but fair I suppose.

Apparently though, these laws are not enough.
What does this new legislation consist of?
See the article below for the full story, but here's a general summary:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
1. A new "zero-tolerance" policy will be instituted regarding speeding. This means that any driver under the age of 21 with a G1 or G2 will lose their license if they are caught speeding. No questions asked. ANY speeding results in complete loss of license on the spot. Strict suspension policies also apply to G drivers. Whether it be 10 km/h over the speed limit or 50 km/h, we can kiss our license goodbye.
2. Same idea as above with the "zero-tolerance", but this one is in regards to drinking. NO ONE under the age of 21 will be allowed to drive with ANY amount of alcohol in their system. If they are found to have the slightest bit of alcohol in their blood, their license is pulled. Just like that. Gone. The G license no longer allows you to have a blood alcohol level of 0.05. Blood alcohol must be ZERO at all times, or you run the risk of losing your license.
3. This one might be the worst. It involves G2 drivers. At NO point is ANY G2 driver allowed to have more than ONE passenger under the age of 19 in their car. At any time. One friend, max. This doesn't apply to family. Thinking of packing a car full of friends like usual? Forget it. They'll take your license.
Sounds like Ageism in Ontario here, and I totally agree with rule #2, but should be applied to everyone because DUI is a big issue here. Does the age of 21 sound like a teenager to you?!

What happened to car-pooling to schools/universities and saving gas and not polluting the environment? Now there will be more cars on the road, even more car-accidents are going to happen. Most of the time, I'm sure more teenagers (Or should I say young people?) will drive reckless if they only have one person with them compared to a car full of 4-7 passengers... Remember how you would have a designated driver whenever you and your buddies go to parties? Now at least half of the people in parties now have to be sober, which seems impossible and there will be drunk-driving anyways.

Here's another quote by someone in a facebook group in protest to these new laws...
This legislation is BS...so if your over 21 you can speed, drive drunk and kill people with a slap on the wrist, but a kid will instantly lose their license? If its zero tolerance, shouldnt it apply to ALL drviers? I know i've personally seen alot of older drivers that wouldnt have a hope of passing a modern drivers tests, so how bout we crack down on THEM intead?
What do you think of this political issue?

That's basically the same thing as California laws.. I think they are fair. You all bitching for no reason. And the quote is dumb because it's not true.

They are trying to not get you into bad habits. Period.

I respect your opinion, but read what I said, car-pooling to universities/schools are impossible now, and there will be more cars on the road.

This is aimed at people under 21, with even harsher consequences.
Like I said, it's almost the exact laws here in Cali. They aren't bad.

If you want their reasoning, think about it more and not just from your perspective, or from a single persons perspective.
