Definately get a book. When i fixed my head gasket i bought one and it helped alot. You will get all your torque specs in the book too.

Oh yeah im doing it for sure, and for people who think its a bad idea, just wait untill its done. ;) I was just seeing if anyone had any thoughts about which J series i should choose. So far im pretty sold on the J35A4

I agree. It would be worth it if you did it yourself, your already attached to the car, and there is nothing that will make you love a car more than fixing it yourself. But if life wont let you do that maybe it would be best to let her go.... :(

So if you have read my other thread you know I'm drawing up plans for a J swap in my 94 DX coupe. I have been shopping around for engines and so far i think ill get the best bang for my buck with the J35A4. I have been finding them for about $600-$800 USD. Thats not a bad price for 240hp and 242...

It looks nice, but after i saw under the hood......Man, if you want to buy it swap out that engine. Otherwise you'll look like a tool. Remember, Power before looks. Car looks fast + Car is not fast = FAIL

Agreed, mine did the same thing. You said your oil still looks the same, which is a very good sign, if its your head gasket its not blown too bad yet. Be sure to fix that asap, i wouldnt drive it anymore untill it is repaired.

The belt has to be removed, valve cover, exhaust, and intake manifold, then the head should come right out. NOTE! be sure to remember the location of the bolts holding down the head. If i remember correctly there are four of them that are longer than the others and you want to make sure they go...

I second that. And possibly bad door seals aswell considering the amount of water inside and the passenger side is going aswell.

Yeah i have seen videos and pics of it done online and the hole cut out in the hood looks tacky to me. Hopefully this project will get off the drawing board soon. It's gonna be a blast
