Alternator output

Do you guys know how much power the stock alternator puts out on a '96 civic and will a sub running off of 500 watts use too much? Here's a pic of the sub

You should be fine, though your lights might dim on huge bass drops. That problem can be solved with a capacitor, though.

I'll look into one, thanks. I'm also going to get a voltage meter to make sure it won't get too low

500 watts RMS should be fine with a stock alternator.

For safe measure, I'd recommend you upgrading the ground wires of your car to decrease the possible resistance.

Yeah you should only use a cap for like 1000 watts rms which would use a 1 farad cap.
