This is ALSO incorrect. You can chip OBD2, however the main IC processors are expensive and its a PITD to resolder 100+ pins. It is uncommon in the fact that its expensive. I have not attempted to do it simply because I had no interest or demand to do it when I had my own shop in the mid 2000s'.

Here is an article from SuperHonda, damn shame imageshack stopped hosting the images. http://www.superhonda.com/forum/f99/how-chip-obd2-ecu-337498/
This article was a b***h to find, looks like the forum archived it and some information is missing. Point is that its not impossible. http://web.archive.org/web/20030516031044/http://pgmfi.crx-forum.org/resources/FAQ/obd2.html
http://www.pgmfi.org/ had a lot of great articles on this years ago. I haven't been there in several years so I don't know when they went done. No telling how long its been since they put that "We'll be back soon" page up.

Also having immobilizers removed is not uncommon anymore, Xenocron has been doing it for sometime now. I don't know how reliable it is as I have never required their services.
yea its more common to do nowadays chipping obd2 ecu has been done in the PAST but here the problem the chip wasn't really reprogram able so any changes need it to be done on the tune file you ended up sodering in a new chip... which is why they stopped chipping obd2 ecu, being that they stopped and no longer do that its technically same as not being about to chip it if. anything you would have to find someone old old school with the equipment to do it. bet you now days you can walk in anywhere that chip ecu and will tell they can't chip your obd2 ecu or will tell you to get a p28 p72 etc ecu to chip instead i did research that along time ago out of curiosity about 6-7 yrs ago if they did chip obd2 ecus but this was what i found about it and why its just not done at all.

other wise chipping obd2 ecu would just as popular at running chipped p28 and p72... you have to think about why things are the way they are..... there is a reason to everything

You didnt solder in a new IC, you soldered in the socket. But you can NOT reflash the IC so you had to purchase them, flash, install. Rinse and repeat as a new tune was required.

some people just to solder it directly to the board(cheapos) i recent had a p28 where the previous owner sodered the chip directly.. but got rid if it with quickness when i got a good deal on the s300 lol putting in new chip after each pull was major major pain in the asss

My P06 that I did all the work too. Moates 11FO vtec kit and all soldering that was required to install the S300. Disregard the water spots. IMG_1296.JPG
