yea thats true as well, but if it was sitting in a closed area, in a corner, somewhere noone ever goes, it will be okay ;)

alrite guys..i took off my valve cover...and took a pix of the valve from top...dontnoe which one it is...but its one of the valves the closes one to the distributor and closet to the intake manifold...it seem like its the only one that dropped or the only one that is the lowest out of all of them...here is a pix...the second pix his how it is suppose to look like....sorry kindof blurry...but you can tell still...

Nice how long did it take you to do all this...and what was the reason why you took it apart...Ey what and were did you get that mesuring thing from...that green thing you used on the #9 picture...dontone what it is called...







Bottom line:
You're not going to know what it needs for sure without tearing it down first.

Can you do it? Sure you can, it's not that hard and there's plenty of shop manuals that
will help you and show you how.
Here's a few pictures of my 98 Civic rebuild

How much will depend on what you need of course but a basic engine kit with all
gaskets and bearing/rings-about $300.00 add another $100.00 for a valve job
(do a valve job while the head is off) plus whatever is broke.
It may not be salvageable depending the condition of the block.

Next option: Buy a remanufactured short block and use your head (if good) and the rest of
engine components.
Or
The cheapest way out, and easiest, find a junk yard with a low milage engine that will
also install it for you. They'll even guarantee it.
Or
the expensive way-Pay someone to rebuild it for you.:cool:

pics are still tooo blurry to tell, that tool he used, is just a sheet of paper im guessing, with measurements on it. it would be best to use a usc micrometer if you wanna measure your piston.

Well, it didn't really need rebuilding, I had to replace a bearing in the trans, and this was a car I
bought from an auction that I wanted to fix up and drive for a while so I decided to go through
it and make it as nice as possible-so I tore it down and put a engine kit in it.
It runs so much better now and it won't have any leaks.
It took me about two weeks overall, taking my time and had to wait for the machine shop
to finish the valve job on the head.

The green thing is called "plastigage" It's sold at most machine shops.
It's a thread thin strip of plastic that you install between the bearing and cap, once torqued to spec
you remove the cap and measure the squished width against the paper wrapper the plasigage
came in. It has measurements on it to compare to so you know how much clearance you have.
The repair manual has the specs to check against.
The picture shows some squished after removing the bearing cap and then measured (compared to the
wrapper) showing .0015" clearance, which is where it should be.

dude u need to wipe the vasiline off ur lens then take some snaps.

I got the factory service manuals, over $100.00
but the next best thing is to get a CD off Ebay, usually around $20 to $35
then print off what you need. (the factory manual and CD have everything)
Most auto parts store have the Haynes service manuals for around $20
they're not quite as much in depth but are good for the basics and all the specs.
You should at least have one of those.:cool:

You need to get a Helms manual. They run from 60-100 bucks. Get one, read it cover to cover. Go to www.helminc.com

It has everything you need from torque specs, to part numbers to how to take your car apart and back together.

Just download the factory service manual. It is a better manual then the helmes version.

I'll trust you when you start giving out good information. The Honda manuel is Three times the size of the haynes. I know this because I own both. Here is a picture.

Every page in the HELMS is an EXACT COPY of HONDA SERVICE MANUAL. Here's a link to one on the internet. If you dont have a fast computer, be ready to down load about 1,000 pages of stuff. What you have on your desk, is a HELMS!

im register but i dontnoe were to go...to many manuals...LOL..and cant find were to download...
